League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, Virginia

In the New River Valley, the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County [LWVMC] provides many ways for citizens to learn about and participate in local government. The Montgomery County League:

• Presents Candidate Forums
• Help citizens register to vote
• Prepares and distributes Facts for Voters and Voters Guides
• Sponsors educational events such as talks by experts on issues like the environment, voting machines and global warming and hosts breakfasts with Town Councils, Board of Supervisors, and School Boards
• Study pending legislation and contact legislators with the Leagues position on that legislation
• Advocates for citizen rights and for open government.
• Actively engage in studies of specific issues and prepare reports which are available to the public
• Provides video files of forums and programs to provide free access to information to the public
• Engage in activities to encourage open government at all levels of government

Your membership fees and/or contributions support these activities. Members can be as active in the League as they want to be. Members receive LWVMC newsletters as well as online newsletters from the Virginia League. League membership is open to all United States citizens (women and men) who are 18 years of age or older. All others who join the League are associate members.
